Rifugio Furio Bianchet

Set at 1,250 m in the upper Val Vescovà, Rifugio Furio Bianchet lies in the peaceful meadows of Pian dei Gat, surrounded by forest and overlooked by the impressive rock walls of the Schiara massif. Its lower altitude and secluded setting give it a distinctly different atmosphere from the high, rocky rifugios encountered earlier on the Alta Via 1.

The hut was inaugurated in 1973, following the renovation of a former building used by forestry workers, and today remains an important stop on the southern section of the Alta Via 1.

After days spent among the famous high peaks of the Dolomites, Bianchet feels wonderfully quiet and authentic. Green meadows, dense woodland and the dramatic Schiara rising above the valley create a beautiful setting for one of the final nights of a complete Alta Via 1 journey.
