Malga Federa

Set at 1,816 metres in a wide alpine clearing above Cortina d’Ampezzo, Malga Federa is surrounded by forests and meadows at the foot of Becco di Mezzodì and Croda da Lago. Its peaceful setting opens onto beautiful views across the Ampezzo Dolomites, making it a particularly charming place to slow down and enjoy a night in the mountains.

Unlike a traditional high-altitude rifugio with large dormitories, Malga Federa has an intimate character, with just five Alpine-style rooms and 12 beds, each room featuring a private bathroom. Breakfast is included, while the restaurant serves an à-la-carte menu inspired by traditional Ampezzo cuisine, using seasonal ingredients and local flavours.

The malga is also beautifully positioned for exploring the Croda da Lago area and can be reached through the forests and pastures along the scenic Gores di Federa trail. Combining a spectacular setting with comfortable accommodation and traditional mountain food, Malga Federa offers a more intimate take on the classic Dolomites hut-to-hut experience.
