Rifugio Averau
The Rifugio Averau is an alpine refuge in the UNESCO World Heritage Site of the Dolomites, located at 2,413 meters above sea level, near Mount Nuvolau and Mount Gusella.
Perched high above the Giau Pass, Rifugio Averau offers one of the most breathtaking panoramas in the Dolomites. Overlooking the peaks of Nuvolau, Tofana, and Civetta, it’s a favorite stop for hikers and photographers on the Alta Via 1. The Averau family welcomes travelers with refined mountain hospitality, comfortable rooms, and gourmet cuisine that has earned this hut a legendary reputation. Included in many of our Selfguided Dolomites Alta Via 1 itineraries, Rifugio Averau combines the charm of a classic alpine refuge with the comfort of a small mountain hotel — a perfect place to unwind, enjoy a sunset, and savor the spirit of the Dolomites.
