Rifugio Nuvolau
Rifugio Nuvolau is a mountain refuge located on the summit of Mount Nuvolau (2,575 m) in Cortina d'Ampezzo, in the Dolomites, a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
Standing proudly at 2,575 m on one of the Dolomites’ most iconic summits, Rifugio Nuvolau is a true highlight of the Alta Via 1. Built in 1883, it is one of the oldest mountain huts in the region and offers breathtaking 360° views over the Cinque Torri, Tofane, and Marmolada. Reached only on foot, the refuge rewards every hiker with warm hospitality, simple dorm-style comfort, and a sunset that feels suspended between sky and stone. Many of our Selfguided Dolomites Alta Via 1 itineraries include a night or visit here — a unique experience where you can watch the light fade across the peaks and feel the soul of the Dolomites at its purest.
