✅ A compact but adventurous hut-to-hut escape in the Dolomites
This self-guided 2-day adventure takes you deep into one of the most impressive mountain groups in the Dolomites: the Rosengarten.
Starting at the top station of the Paolina lift at Passo Costalunga, the trail leads to Rifugio Roda di Vaèl before crossing Passo delle Cigolade and reaching Rifugio Vajolet. From here, a secured mountain trail climbs steadily toward Rifugio Passo Santner (2,734 m), your spectacular overnight stay high above the Val di Fassa.
Rifugio Passo Santner is truly one of the most breathtaking hut locations in the Dolomites. Perched directly beneath the legendary Vajolet Towers, it offers dramatic vertical rock walls, unforgettable sunset light over the Catinaccio peaks, and a unique high-alpine atmosphere. Staying here feels wild, remote, and deeply alpine — a true Dolomites highlight.
On day two, the route continues via Rifugio Vajolet and climbs toward Rifugio Passo Principe. You then traverse the impressive landscape near Passo del Molignon before reaching Rifugio Bergamo. The descent through the scenic Tschamin Valley leads down to Tires, where you return comfortably to the starting point by public transport or cable car and bus.
Shorter and alternative hiking options are available depending on fitness level and weather conditions.
