Rifugio Castiglioni

Set at 2,057 m on the shores of Lago di Fedaia, Rifugio Castiglioni Marmolada enjoys an impressive position directly beneath the Marmolada, the highest mountain in the Dolomites. Its sunny terrace and large windows look towards the massif, making the rifugio a particularly scenic stop for hikers crossing this part of the Dolomites.

Built in 1906, the hut has a long mountaineering tradition and occupies an important position along the Alta Via 2, as well as the long-distance Munich–Venice route. Today it is run by the Soraruf family, whose connection with the Marmolada stretches back several generations. The solid stone walls and warm wooden interior preserve the atmosphere of a traditional mountain refuge while offering a comfortable overnight stay.

Accommodation ranges from dormitory-style rooms to private rooms, with shared bathrooms, hot showers and half-board available. The restaurant serves traditional mountain dishes such as canederli, polenta and local specialities, while the rifugio’s location makes it an excellent base for exploring the Marmolada, walking the panoramic Viel dal Pan, or simply enjoying the dramatic scenery around Fedaia.
