Rifugio Vicenza
Set at 2,253 m in the heart of the Sassolungo Group, Rifugio Vicenza is a beautifully secluded mountain hut surrounded by some of the Dolomites’ most impressive rock walls. Its spectacular setting beneath Sassolungo and Sassopiatto makes it an atmospheric overnight stop and an excellent base for exploring the group.
Tucked away at 2,253 m in the heart of the Sassolungo/Langkofel Group, Rifugio Vicenza enjoys a spectacular position beneath the towering rock walls of Sassolungo and Sassopiatto. Hidden away from the busier trails around Passo Sella, the hut has a wonderfully secluded, high-alpine atmosphere and feels completely immersed in the mountains.
Originally built in 1898 as the Langkofelhütte, the refuge became Rifugio Vicenza after the First World War and has a long connection with the CAI section of Vicenza. Today it offers 69 beds, rooms and shared accommodation, as well as a restaurant serving traditional mountain dishes.
Its location makes it an excellent base for exploring the Sassolungo Group, with trails leading towards Rifugio Toni Demetz, Rifugio Sassopiatto and Rifugio Comici as well as our popular King Laurin Alta Via and Short King Laurin Alta Via. It is also a classic starting point for more demanding mountain adventures, including the Oskar Schuster route to Sassopiatto and climbing routes on Sassolungo.
